About Us

known as "the Friendly Airport"

Jackson County Airport is located in Ravenswood, West Virginia, near the northwest border of the Ohio River. It is a public-use, general aviation airport owned by the Jackson County Commission.   It sits on 217 acres, with an asphalt runway 4,000 feet long by 75 feet wide. A new terminal, designed by Appalachian Log Structures, is open Monday thru Sunday 8 am to 4 pm.  The airfield is open 24/7.  The airport supports general aviation, military, air taxi, business and private multi- and single-engine, and ultralight aircraft.  Offers full-service only for Jet A and full service and self-service fueling options for 100LL. We also have flight training and maintenance facilities on the field.  Business aircraft use the airport to access the nearby industrial park and other businesses in the region.  The facility also offers instruction, complete with flight simulators (FAA and Non-FAA), and hosts multiple aviation groups, including the Mountain Aero Club, Sky Ridge Aviation, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 1336, General Chuck Yeager Chapter, Women in Aviation International, 1st General Chuck Yeager Chapter, and General Chuck Yeager Aviation Day every year.

Our Story

The airport's construction was completed in 1979, initially featuring a straightforward 4,000-foot runway. Over the years, it has evolved significantly, now including a taxiway to accommodate increased air traffic. Today, the airport boasts 12 T-hangers, one community hanger, and eight private hangers, providing essential facilities for both private and community aviation needs. This growth reflects the airport's commitment to serving the needs of its users and supporting regional air travel.
